Players DO NOT need to reside in the Northmont School District to play.
In fact, the more we get in another area the easier it is to start
another team.
The goal of Wee Bolts Rugby is to promote physical fitness, teamwork,
decision making, leadership, and sportsmanship through the game of Rugby
for those in K-6th grades. Rugby is the fastest growing and newest
Olympic Sport in the USA while existing since 1823 internationally.
Rugby can compliment all other sports because of the conditioning and
decision making required and it is fun because everyone gets to run the
ball and everyone gets to score. The sportsmanship and brotherhood that
exists with Rugby is second to no other sport. Interested? Give Rugby a
TRY!
This is a new sport for everyone initially, so don't let that deter
getting your kids involved. Be one of the first and help us build this
into something special. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Seattle Seahawks
have already adopted rugby-style tackling for a few years now and the
list of teams following their lead is growing.
We highly encourage parental involvement and are in need of volunteer
assistant coaches. While previous experience is helpful, it is not
required. Anyone can learn the game at this level and grow with the kids
as they progress each year.

Safety
The claims by some in rugby that it is safer than football are based on the fact that, by rule -- called "laws" in rugby -- the sport prohibits hitting the head during tackling or using the head to tackle. Players are supposed to use a "wrap" technique with the arms to bring down an opponent. Blocking other players, as in football isn't allowed, nor is blindsiding.
